the Good Ship Guidebook, docked at FictionAlley Park [version 3: closer]
Classics
Here you will find some of the classic writings and creations of the Good Ship. We have
poetry, the theory on
old love vs. new love, the
Death Eater Popstars,
old t-shirt slogans, and some of the shippers' most
quotable moments.
We here at the good ship *heart* poetry and such. We'd wax poetic about Ron and Hermione anyway; why not make it official?
The Uranus Thing
Lavender asked for it
Ron is brilliant
-- Michelle
- There once was a man named Ron
- who came equipped with a sixteen-inch wand
- It made his girl say,
- "Oh, my! What a lay!"
- And kept them both screaming 'till dawn.
- -- Lav
- Once there was a redhead named Ron,
- Who looked very cute with an apron on.
- He loved Hermione Granger,
- Who, when ticked, was a danger,
- But loved him when Ron shook his bon-bon
- -- Rachel
I've collected a lot of poetry just from Neil. His limericks are known as "Dumbledore's Socks" (one of the few things I can't explain...).
- There was once a couple from Gryff,
- Who liked the weasel when stiff.
- He was put to good use,
- Till the cage was quite loose,
- And he could no longer rise without a lift.
- Ron was a plumbing Weasley,
- And was plumbing Hermione,
- Said his girl, "Stop you plumbing,
- There's somebody coming."
- Said Ronald, still plumbing, "It's me."
And his Yule Brawl haiku series:
Hermione says
Ron should ask her first next time.
Is it a request?
"She missed the point,"
Ron replies in angry voice.
He goes to his room.
Who missed the point?
Harry wonders to himself.
He thinks it was Ron.
Then find broken toy,
The body under the bed,
The arm somewhere else.
We shippers enjoy
Knowing what Ron does not get;
It is our stories.

Our very own Polymnia had her own stroke of genius (first time for everything... *Lav ducks*). When asked whether she prefered her R/Hr as "old love" (meaning: we-have-grandkids) or "young love" (meaning: we-are-hornier-than-all-hell), she replied:
"R/Hr young love or old love? I can't really pick one. IMO, both are basically the same love. Young love would definitely be passionate, while old love logically woudn't, thought it would have this wonderful complicity (? I don't know if this word is correct...) between Ron and Hermione, when just by looking at each other's eyes they would see all their story in the other. But even with the typical differences that exist between young and old love, it would still be the same "Ronhermionish" intense love. And sorry, I don't really know how to explain this... It's just that I see their love as something that would always be there, beyond everything, always with that intensity and that childish touch, no matter how old they grow."
Bloody brilliant, no?

Britney!Voldie is a very interesting take on Lord Voldemort. It all started with a conversation about chocolate, which led to chocolate bras, which led to Voldemort in a chocolate bra, which led to a ficlet challenge, which led to the Britney Spears comparision, which led to the immortalization of our dear Britney!Voldie. Itsuwari became B!V's doting grandmother, and helped lead to the B!V thread title ("Hit R/H, Britney!Voldie One More Time"). Soon after, other Popstar!DeathEaters emerged onto the scene. Christina!Lucius, Mandy!Snape, Pink!Crabbe, and Jessica!Draco, just to name a few of the more memorable ones.
The majority of the blame goes to Lav and Trish on this one. Though Itsu helped a bunch. . . . Of course, once we got tired of the Death Eaters, we branched out a bit. Most of this occurred durring a very interesting MSN conversation. . . .
Other Popstar!Characters include:
TaylorHanson!Oliver - Elvis!Han - PaulMcCartney!Luke - Ringo!Anakin - John!DarthVader - Yoko!Leia - George!JarJar - MichaelJackson!Dumbledore - Madonna!McGonagall - Janet!Flitwick - Cher!Sprout - Elton!Binns - Stevie!Sinistra - Sting!Vector - BonJovi!Quirrell - GeorgeMichael!Lockhart - Tiffany!Moody - JoeyMcIntyre!Lupin - JordanKnight!Percy - DonnieWahlberg!Bill - JonathanKnight!Charlie - DannyWood!George - AndrewRidgesly!Fred - AnnieLenox!Arthur
Later came UglyNakedGuy!Voldie, who inspired thread
XXXVI. UglyNaked!Voldie and Friends.

Long before FictionAlley's CafePress store introduced its R/Hr ship t-shirts, we speculated on the ship as to what we'd put on a t-shirt to proclaim our eternal love for Ron and Hermione's eternal love.

The sailors of the Good Ship will often slip into moments where we say particularly lovely, clever, or hysterical things about R/Hr. The rest of the time, we're just plain crazy, but in a good way....
Chivalry is not dead. It lives on in Ron Weasley.
-- Katrinkadink, aka Trink
When a man belches slugs for you, you know it's love.
-- Liz, or maybe Rachel
My favorite part of R/Hr is that it makes me feel like I'm the one just falling in love, just beginning to like someone, just beginning to feel these things that are so hard and complicated but so fun and happy and simple at the same time. I love how real it is. I love how I can identify with it, how I can read "Not As A Last Resort" and get butterflies in my stomach. I love how it's so fresh and new, and how it makes me wish to feel those same things again. I love how, even though I'm young, it makes me feel like I understand. Like I know. I love how I know that I've felt the same way as those two, and I love hoping that someday, I'll feel it again.
-- Lizzy
True, they [Ron and Hermione] may be apples and oranges, but who's to say that those don't make a nice fruit salad?
-- Evenstar
[On Ron being a comic relief character:] I agree that this seems to be a general theme in the movies thus far, and I sincerely hope they don't keep going down that path. Humor is great, and it's definitely a big part of Ron's personality, but it is not the only thing that defines him. JKR has created in him a very well-rounded character that not only has his funny moments, but his angsty moments as well. This is a boy with insecurities and doubts, and I would like to see that explored more in the movies (goodness knows Rupert would do FANTASTICALLY with that kind of material too). I also don't want his bravery, loyalty, cockiness to get glossed over in the movies. They're missing the boat on that.
-- Jennifer, aka sunshyndaisies
::runs up to accept her statue:: I just... wow. I wasn't expecting this. I don't even have a speech prepared. ::wipes away imaginary tear:: I want to thank my parents, because they never ask what I'm doing online. And I want to thank Neil and Kym, because they've been my number one corrupters. ::waves to Neil and Kym wildly:: And... just, wow. Thank you. I do it for the fans.
-- Liz, on winning the Gutter Queen Award
I think [R/Hr] is like a brand new house: it's all built up, we're just waiting for the doors to open.
